Introduction to School and Sportswear.
We are delighted to welcome School and Sportswear, led by Eamonn Gillen, to the Play It Green community! Based in Ireland, this innovative company specialise in school uniforms, teamwear, sports equipment, and workwear.
Beyond convenience, Eamonn and his team are passionate about sustainability and creating positive social value. As part of our Climate Positive Workforce initiative, School and Sportswear is joining the movement for a better planet. Their team will benefit from weekly sustainability education, and every month, we will plant trees, mangroves, and sea kelp for each of their team members. This contributes to environmental restoration and carbon reduction while aligning with their values.
The impact does not stop there! School and Sportswear has chosen to support LauraLynn Children’s Hospice, donating 10% of their subscription fees to this amazing charity that is Ireland’s only children’s hospice, providing palliative care and support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

We had the chance to catch up with Eamonn Gillen to learn more about the company’s journey, values, and future plans. It is fantastic to see another organisation committed to making sustainability and social value a priority.
Welcome to the Play It Green community, School and Sportswear. Together, we’re making education greener and creating a brighter future!

Please, tell us a little about School and Sportswear
“The company was started in 2020 to provide good quality school uniforms at affordable prices for parents. The vision from the start was to help schools raise funding through the sale of school uniforms. School and Sports Wear are innovators in this regard, as traditionally in Ireland, schools don’t benefit at all from the profits of uniform sales – we are changing this trend through our partnerships with schools.”
Why is sustainability important to School and Sportswear?
“My parents were frugal and they never wasted things – so I carry that attitude in my personal and business life. Reducing waste lowers our operational costs and small everyday actions by my staff and I can contribute towards a greener planet. We also like the idea of networking with like-minded businesses and getting ideas on how to work towards a more sustainable future.”
Why did School and Sportswear decide to collaborate with Play It Green?
"We discovered Play It Green through an article on sustainable school uniforms and quickly realized the importance of integrating sustainability into our business. Amid the daily demands of running a company, it is easy to overlook our environmental impact. Play It Green provides valuable guidance, reliable resources, and practical steps to help us adopt more sustainable practices. Their expertise supports our team’s efforts to reduce our footprint. In addition, we are committed to global tree-planting initiatives, allowing us to make a meaningful contribution toward a greener future."

What does the future hold for School and Sportswear?
“We have expanded our offering to schools in 2025 – allowing schools in Ireland to receive up to 50% of funding arising from the sale of school uniforms. There are 4 different Tiers for schools to choose from, ranging from 10% to 50% profit share. The trend for schools to benefit from this annual funding stream is gathering pace in Ireland. More and more schools are signing up. We are really excited to see the positive impact this will have on schools, creating a more sustainable funding model for schools in Ireland."
"My team and I are proud to be part of the Play It Green community and excited to learn new ways to make our business more sustainable."
